FINAL INSPECTION

On completion of welding, the QC inspector shall examine the completed welds and the surrounding area
to confirm the acceptability of:
- Root penetration and oxidation level (wherever access permits).
- Weld reinforcement.
- Width and size.
- Undercut.
- Overlap.
- Cleanliness (lack of spatter, slag, etc.).
- Stray arcs (arc strikes).
- Satisfactory removal of temporary attachments.
- Weld finishing shall be as specified in AFC WPS. In the piping/pipeline welding, arc strikes shall not be permitted. If found, the same shall be ground to smooth profile and applicable NDT shall be performed as specified in the relevant specification for acceptance/rejection.
- Welds shall be examined for smooth and regular profile, and the reinforcement shall blend smoothly with the parent metal.
- After satisfactory completion of visual inspection, the weld shall be subjected to other NDT methods.
- After completion of all final inspection activities, the weld summary sheet shall be prepared based on the fit-up, visual and NDT reports.
PCR shall establish the following reference documents in more detail.
