TAGGING AND IDENTIFICATION

Piping spools shall be identified by a detail number, comprising the piping system line number and spool suffix number, which must be weatherproof and painted or stenciled in characters at least 50 mm (2 in.) high.

Piping systems size DN 40 and below (NPS 1½ and below) shall be identified with stainless steel weather- and tear-resistant tags.

The following shall be ensured during tagging and identification activity:

DOs

• SS binding wire shall be used when fixing tags for SS pipe spools.
• For bigger diameter pipes, identification can be marked both inside and outside the pipe.

DON’Ts

• Don’t release the pipe spool for painting without proper identification tags.
