PRESERVATION

a) Preservation of Equipment

  1. Equipment, such as pumps, valves, etc., shall be preserved as per manufacturer’s recommendation.
  2. Rotating parts shall be rotated, lubricated periodically and protected from adverse weather conditions.
  3. Machined surfaces shall be preserved with removable type rust preventive coatings as recommended by vendor.
  4. Nitrogen purging shall be maintained as recommended by vendor.

b) Preservation of Piping Items

  1. Pipes, fittings, valves, etc., shall be preserved to prevent rusting due to weather conditions.
  2. SS and DSS pipes shall be preserved by covering with canvas.
  3. GRE materials shall be preserved as per manufacturer’s recommendation.

Preservation Activity – DOs and DON’Ts

DOs DON’Ts
Protect all pipes with end caps. Don’t expose the materials to heat, moisture, dust and other environmental conditions, which will affect the quality of the materials.
Preserve all valves with proper lubricants periodically.
Preserve all flange faces with suitable lubricants.
Preserve all stud bolts and nuts with suitable lubricants.
Maintain the preservation plan and preservation log sheet.
