Prior to Release for Pressure Test

The following shall be fulfilled and signed off by the commissioning engineer and manager.

a) Pipe Work Completion

  1. Check the piping is constructed according to the latest IFC revision of P&ID and isometric drawing.
  2. Check that materials used are as per specification.
  3. Check that piping routing does not obstruct the access for emergency escape and maintenance.
  4. Check piping line sloping, if required.
  5. Ensure maintenance accessibility for valves, PSV, sample point, corrosion probe, etc.
  6. Check that flange rating or gray lock hubs are correct.
  7. Check that gaskets are provided as per specification and QA/QC report.
  8. Check that flange joint is properly aligned and within acceptable tolerance and tallies with QA/QC report.
  9. Check bolts and nuts are adequately tightened and of correct length.
  10. Check that required vent and drain points are provided.
  11. Inspect all valves and ensure that the type, size, material and flow directions are correct.
  12. Check filter/strainer body and inspect internal elements for damages.
  13. Check that filter/strainer element materials and mesh size are correct.
  14. Check that pipe supports are constructed and installed according to drawings.
  15. Check that welded joints have been completely inspected.
  16. Check that actuated valves are correctly installed.
  17. Check that piping penetrations are constructed according to drawings with sufficient stiffening plates and adequate sealing.
  18. Check that all piping special items are installed properly.
  19. Check that spectacle blinds, spades and spacers are provided and installed at location and positioned as per P&ID.
  20. Ensure exposed portions of spectacle blinds are coated with grease to avoid corrosion.
  21. Ensure that all instrument drains lead to the drain system.
  22. Verify that check valves and globe valves are installed in their correct flow direction.
  23. Check that lines are labelled at visible locations.
  24. Check that mating of dissimilar material is installed correctly.
  25. Check that all chain wheels and extended spindles required for specified valves have been installed.
  26. Check the isolation gasket is installed, if required.
  27. Ensure PSV system is installed and calibrated.
  28. Check the spring hanger condition is in locked position, if required.

b) Pre-Hydro Test

  1. Verify to ensure that all piping construction/installation activities as per test package limit have been completed.
  2. Ensure that the test package can be applied.
  3. Check that all weld inspection and NDE are complete with traceability and history records complete and cleared by QA/QC department.
  4. Ensure that conformity line check has been performed.
  5. Ensure that test package, including the attachment, is completed.
  6. Check that all vents and drains are installed (add temporary vents and drains for testing as required).
  7. Ensure all check valves are removed or tied back.
  8. Ensure ball valves are half-opened during test and fully opened for flushing.
  9. Verify that globe valves are fully opened for testing and flushing.
  10. Check that all temporary equipment stops, spades, bobbin pieces and supports for pressure test are installed and recorded for checking at post-test reinstatement.
  11. Check that all instrument relief valves, bursting discs and specified control valves have been removed for pressure test.
  12. Ensure all orifice flanges are blinded off.
  13. Ensure essential supports are fitted and springs and bellows are gagged during test.
  14. Check that all sprinkler heads, rosettes and nozzles have been removed and connections plugged.
  15. Raise piping punch list and ensure all Category A items are cleared.

c) Flushing

  1. Verify that all piping construction/installation activities as per test package limit have been completed.
  2. Check that injection points and drain-out points are completed as per test pack markup.
  3. Ensure that water quality is good, with maximum 30 ppm chlorite and demineralized water for stainless steel line.
  4. Verify equipment is bypassed and blinded.
  5. Check valve status in accordance with flushing and testing procedures.
  6. Ensure all low point drains and high point vents are flushed.
  7. Ensure that all piping lines in this test package have been flushed.
  8. Ensure that piping system has been drained out, followed by drying.
  9. Protect/preserve the piping system. If it cannot be done immediately, ensure that hydro testing of the same piping is completed.
  10. Record data as below:
